1995 FLHTC starter click

After going thru many starter relays my bagger clicks only sometimes and won't turn engage the starter ? Starter is new and the cables . Anyone know where the starter relay grounds to on the bike ? Any ideas ? I gave up and just installed a manual push button on the starter solenoid .

Try this:

Loosening the Starter, alternating the tightening sequence, and "tap" the starter Button occasionally until you reach torque.

Pretty common on the 01 and earlier.

If its even off a little on the alignment, the Solenoid will not push out the Bendix.

try to do voltage drop tests starting at battery and proceeding forward.
