I'd tell guys it takes about 4, 4 1/2 hours, sometimes longer.
When they ask why, I'd give em the short version of events:

"Bike on lift, rear wheel in air, plugs out, hi gear. Remove AC cover, filter & backing plate. Cover TB entrance.  Pull pushrod cover clips, lift tubes, rotate wheel until 1 pushrod is lowest spot, cut pushrod with bolt cutters, remove both pieces, repeat for remaining 3. Remove lifter blocks/lifters Remove exhaust. Remove cam cover. Remove cam plate/oil pump/inner cam bearings. Inspect cam cavity, install new inner cam bearings. Inspect oil pump. Check crank runout. If less than .003", continue. Remove old cams/retainer/bearings from plate, clean/inspect cam support plate, install block off plates, new bearings and cams in plate. Verify cam timing.  Install oil pump with new oring. Install plate/cam assy. Torque cam plate fasteners IAW instructions. Check/set cam to cam gear lash as needed.  Check/set cam to crank gear lash as needed. Verify cam timing.  Torque gear bolts IAW instructions. Install new lifters. Install tappet blocks with new gaskets. Torque lifter block bolts IAW service manual. Install collapsed pushrods on the rear cylinder with covers and new orings.  Verify all timing marks line up, engine should be at rear TDCC. Adjust pushrods on rear cylinder IAW instructions. Wait until last adjusted pushrod can spin between your fingers before adjusting the next. Once rear cylinder is done, and both pushrods can be finger spun, rotate engine in normal fashion until front cylinder is on TDCC, and repeat pushrod procedure for front cylinder. Once all that is done, rotate engine a dozen times and re-verify cam timing, and nothing is hitting/abnormal. Install cam cover with new gasket. Torque all fasteners IAW instructions. Install exhaust. Torque all fasteners IAW service manual. Remove TB cover, install backing plate, filter, and AC cover.  Restore motorcycle to normal operating condition. Tune for changes."

Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

I say 4 1/2 hours but tell him 6-8 hrs just in case something goes wrong. When he gets the bill for 4 1/2 you will be the hero!!!

Or, you don't get the job because you said 6 to 8 hours.....         :pop:

My thought exactly
