Timing questions
I have an 02 softail and an 09 SG.
Both have been dyno tuned and tweaked for roads in South Dakota.
Now that I am in southern Arizona, both are hard to start cold ot hot and want to kick back harshly.
Question one:
Does mix need to be richer or leaner for lower altitude and hotter climate?

Question Two, hot and cold, what field determines cranking timing?  Tuners are Master Tune (09) and Sert (02)

I would try richer first, maybe run datamaster and viewing IAC warmup analyzer.

The closest you can come to affecting that area is setting the high/right section of the timing table ( 80-100KPA, 750-1000 RPM) to negative numbers ( i use -3°) to send a spark after the cylinder reaches TDC, to reduce kickback.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Cool! Thanks. Ill try that.
