These heads 17071-08A, are no longer offered as an SE part. I assume because they are now a pretty standard offering. I think the 94676 heads are the same heads? Not 100% sure, I guess the same but doesn't say Screaming Eagle on them. Does that sound correct?

https://www.surdyke.com/AdvPartInfo.asp?PartNumber=94676

What I wanted to find out is if the 17071-08A heads were made after the CVO 110 head issues with loose guide issues, and I think some had loose seats, etc. that plagued the early 110 bikes. I know where a really lightly used set is, but don't want to get them if they are in need of the repairs the early 110 heads needed.

Forgot the catalog info. This is from a 2010 SE catalog.

The 110+ head has very different port geometry than the standard 110 head and it was used as the casting to create the MVAs.

Ohio HD

Thanks for the info Don. Does this mean they are comparable to the MVA's in performance? I see the same size valves.

Think undersized compared to a CVO 110 head, a good start to completing a CNC program with full coverage.
Not sure why they were a retail product to be honest. They compete directly with the SE Pro heads which flow a little better, 17165-08A. Those are just a 110 head with "Screaming Eagle" badges and they have motor mount holes. Well they are both discontinued now right? So anyway the 110+ are a good set of heads to port.

Guy who has, now had them, I missed them, someone else bought them, also had a set of NOS still in the box. He gave me an excellent deal on these, and did the sale off eBay, saved us both. I'm going to run these as is, except I'll change the valve seals and valve springs. Check the cc and adjust that as needed. This is a 110 touring build, it doesn't need to be maxed out. Will be about 10:1 compression, GMR's 577, 58SE TB, S&S crank, ProPipe, tuned, and ride it to death.

You mean the 2008-07-08 ?   What happened that day?

Can you post some head pictures of the heads in the box, any way to visually tell the difference from the 110 and the 110 plus?

When I get them, yes. Easiest thing would be to measure the valves. 110+ documentation says they're the same as MVA heads. Also the rear head will have the Screaming Eagle script, and a badge on the front head.

Will the front head say CNC ported or will it say 110? So they are the same as the MVA?

The printed instructions in the box pic are 2008-12-18 whereas the online and only ones I've ever seen are 2008-07-08, I wonder what the difference is.

Ohio HD

pfftt...   I completely missed that....

And, the date on the boxes label is.....   01/18/2011

These are the raw castings used to create the MVA heads and are not ported, they are smaller CSA than the stock 110 heads and have different port geometry.

I agree with Don, sure wouldn't take a lot of work to get these moving really serious air.

Yeah, I got lucky with these. He was asking probably what retail was when you could buy these, about $1,200.00. I also was looking at a set of low mile 110+ heads he had, and I didn't get them. We haggled back and forth a few times on the new heads, and he let them go for $600.00 + shipping. These heads will go on a medium performance 110 I'm building for myself as well. I could leave them alone, but will send to Larry to clean up the ports, valve springs, valve seals.

Larry finished with my MVA heads today for the 124 motor. Now I can get started with pistons, then lower end and get her going.

Hard to tell, but looks like they have been worked on?

   any mva photos?

Here's a couple Duffy. Larry did very nice work, as expected. Now I can order pistons and the throttle body. Once I have the pistons, then the lower end is next.

dumb question here...but does anyone know what the name of that red lube is I see that a lot of the head porters use inside the guides?

some very nice looking heads you got there Brian!

Ray I'm sure it's some brand of motor assembly lube. Could ask Larry what brand he uses.

Ohio HD

FSG

could be this stuff which I use often, though I'm not the only one to use it

That looks more like the consistency of the lube I see on these valve stems.

Gary...I think you might be correct on that Red Line lube.
I thought I re-called Larry saying once that is what he used.
