KB Pistons, RE: 110 Drop On Build
« on: April 01, 2018, 08:42:07 AM »
The more I use these the better I like them.

One little item from the instructions:
"Special note on STANDARD size pistons: .001" less clearance is built into the piston to allow honing of a good STANDARD bore cyl.
New cylinders must be checked for proper wall clearance and may require slight honing."

This is a good thing!
Helping a customer with HD 110 cylinders we honed them to size and now they fit perfectly, straight and on size. To begin with they were about +.0004 -0

On a side note check the deck height on these 110 cylinders, in this case it was >.020". Fixed that too.

Good info Don
What is their final bore spec number?
This is better than going right to the +.005 piston.

Don, are you saying the pistons are .020 in the hole? If so that's a bunch.

Mine were .010 in. down.

As you know on a case by case basis. There were some 07s with shorter than standard rods.

The last cylinders I quickly measured before plates were 4.1251 - 4.1253. Very straight and true. The piston requires .0025 so it took less than 1 thou to bring it in.
