Help on 09 Touring strategy
« on: April 14, 2018, 04:44:19 AM »
I read through what I could find in a search and found no definitive answer.
Friend bought a used 09 Road King and it has exhaust and air cleaner that he knows of and hardly runs.
I pulled the Cal with PV and it is a 205 strategy some type of custom map. I looked on the PV site and most for the 2009 bikes come up  09 strategy. I know 2009 was still the big O2's and some were pressure based and I read somehere that say the 2010 cals do not tune right with the old O2's. My local tuner is out of town and I just want to get this running to see what we can do with it.

What is the best strategy to start with for these 09 touring bikes, 09, 205, 044 something else?
Thanks for any help with this.

The 09 was a odd duck. The factory map was MAP based on the VE tables. Also they had the large O2 sensors that are not heated.
10 and up used heated small sensors that is why you cannot use the 44 series.
On my 09 i used the stock download and tuned it, because i preferred the MAP VE tables. That or the 205's work just fine.

You can use a 009, 044 or 205 in the 2009-2013 bikes but you can only put the 205 or the like in the 2008 ecms.  With the PV you can turn the O2 heaters on/off.  Have to double check the sensor ground offset.

Not sure if the 08 CVO bikes were different but I did a level 009 in an 08 CVO a couple weeks back, shut off the closed loop and tuned entirely open with no issues
