Compression release or not?
« on: February 03, 2018, 04:49:04 PM »
Hello fellows-I going to be doing a top end rebuild to my old but true, ride as much as possible, but not every day, '90 flt evo, thinking of putting in 9.5 to 1 -.010 over pistons, andrews evo 27 cam, and a after market single ignition. My question is will I be needing compression releases? Anyone have any experience with an issue like this? Thanks

ALL early harley heads can benefit from compression releases.  They make the bike start so much easier which will save wear and tear on the starter and the battery. there is no down side to installing compression releases.

............and the best place install them/machine them, is in between the pushrod tubes.
