Dragula Pipe install on softail
« on: February 09, 2018, 02:20:18 PM »
Sorry if this is the wrong section, but it is on a TC softy.

You know, if I wasnít already bald, I would have pulled all my hair out.  Iíve tried single SE gaskets, double stacked SE gasket, and even the tapered gasket.  I have always liked the Dragula, but damn it, I am having 1 hell of a time sealing this pipe.  Sure would be nice if there was a thick, nontapered, crushable gasket or I could crimp these ends to a taper.

I will say, this is the first fat tire bike (Breakout) Iíve tried to install a Dragula on. Any suggestions, besides toss it in the recycle bin?  If I canít get it sealed this weekend, Iíll give Frank a call.

The fat back end may be the problem if it wasn't designed for one.

I would imagine the frame is the same, just with a fatter swingarm.

Frank recommends the tapered style for his header design but if youíre wanting to try a thicker flat gasket FM has one.

On my Dragula   08 bagger  I use cometic flat steel mesh exhaust gaskets.Have tried others ,cone oem  SE and even the copper style cometic,The steel mesh cometic work the best for me,great sealing properties. They are a little tight to put in , I put them in the freezer for a few. Then use adeep well socket to install,These can also be reused many times befor being replaced.    Paul
