BMW help!
« on: September 03, 2017, 03:38:54 PM »
Ultra, any idea on a speaker level input to a 3.5mm jack pre amp output that will work on a 2016 K1600GTLE?
J&M had one, FGA-345-HD, but discontinued it.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

If haven't already, you might try going over to the K1600 forums. There is a section over there that deals with audio. Maybe someone can help with what you're trying to do.

Been there, they just talk of the J&M adaptor cable that has been discontinued, but now I find out after a few calls to J&M that they have a similar adaptor for the 2014+ baggers that might work so we have one on order and are going to give it a go. It's like pulling teeth. One would think that J&M might have said that they have the HD adaptor and we could try it and see if it would work with no guarantee that it will. :banghead:

Well, the '14+ adapter won't fit the BMW so back to the drawing board. We did find a couple of universal adaptors so I think we will figure something out.

What are you trying to adapt/connect?

Line level speakers to a pre-amp input on the J&M CB radio.
J&M used to have a harness that you could connect to the motorcycle's speaker leads, then it would plug right into the J&M CB radio, then you could get FM Radio or what ever else from the factory radio fed through the J&M system, much like a HD Limited.

We will probably order this one unless someone has a better idea.

Well we tore 150 pieces of plastic off the BMW and wired in the converter I mentioned earlier and it works. Right now I am kicking back and watching Gonenorth try figure out how to put his Beemer back together. It is quite entertaining!

:hyst: I remember the first time I removed all the skins and went back together,  I had a couple torx screws left and had to go back and look for the hidden hole's for them.   :bike:

Got them all back on and all screws accounted for 👍!  Changing air filter requires the same operation.  I told Poor UB I should be good at taking plastic off after a couple of years of service.
