Install Soundstream PN4.50D Amp in a 2013 Ultra
« on: September 09, 2017, 03:03:43 PM »
I have a 3013 Ultra. It has Titan II 6 1/2 speakers in the fairing and Infinity 62.11I speakers in the rear pods.
Now I have a Soundstream PN4.520D Amp to install.
I've never done this before. The instructions are not aimed toward a Harley install. They're just kinda general instructions.
Are there any YouTube Videos on this? I couldn't find any.
Are there things I must do, that aren't mentioned in the instructions?
Are there things I must never do, no matter what?
What is a good method of mounting the thing?
The instructions mention using a heavy gauge battery +wire if it's a long distance from the battery. On a bike it's only about 5 or 6 feet. What gauge wire should I use?
It mentions using an inline use near the battery, but says nothing about what size of fuse.
Is the stock Harley speaker wire OK to use?
Any other things I should know about?
 THANKS for any help given.

I'm by no means an expert on stereo installs.  I looked up Soundstream amps on Crutchfield and they listed some requirements.  I'd use your existing speaker wires.  Here is what they called for:

4-channel car amplifier
90 watts RMS x 4 at 4 ohms (125 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms)
250 watts x 2 bridged at 4 ohms
variable high- and low-pass filters (35-250 Hz, 12 dB/octave)
Class D amp technology
MOSFET power supply
preamp and speaker-level inputs
fuse rating: 30A x 1
10-gauge power and ground leads recommended wiring and hardware not included with amplifier

dimensions: 7-1/2"W x 1.5"H x 3-1/8"D
warranty: 1 year

I had the same soundtream amp in my 07 harley ultra, loved it. I would be cruzing down the freeway at 70 plus with it cranked the cars next to would hear my music before the bike. Freakin loud. Mine was ez to install but the 07 stereo was way easier to deal with than the new ones. I have 16 RGU and have no idea what I want to do with the stereo yet.

60 Yr old kid here. Have a  single channel bridged MONO sound. Bottom end sound  sets off car alarms. MY EXHAUST!!!!!! Sound Stream when in Folsom Ca was/is a great company. At that time they stood behind there amps and speakers also. Old school class A/B units. NOT for motorcycle use without trailer for extra batteries. It isn't loud till ya see the head light dimming with the base beat!!!!  :hyst:
