got an fxrs and need the oil pump changed. can it be removed without taking the motor out? thanks

Yes, fairly simple job. Get the factory service manual.
I am an adult?? When did that happen, and how do I make it stop?!

not enough room to get the shaft out-hits the tranny.

can get all pump off but you leave the drive shaft in motor . not the most fun of a job and if the nose cone isn't off the shaft slides making it fun for assemble
I have done it a few times the hardest part is getting the c clip on the feed side pump
take your time and pack your patents
Keep your feet on the pegs and your right hand cranked
