I've heard that the M8 in my 2017 SGS has a 110mph speed limiter in the ecm, and nobody has figured out how to defeat or circumvent that limit.... anybody know anything about this?  Ive only had mine up to 108mph as of yet.

TTS tuner, Power Vision tuner, or Direct Link tuner. Nothing the MOCO offers, so no SE products will.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

I don't understand the comment above.
Do you mean that the TTS, Power Vision Tuner or Direct Link tuner will allow you to remove the 110 mph limitation, BUT the Harley Screaming Eagle Street Tuner will not?
I did not know there was a 110 mph limitation.

Why would you need to go faster?

I have several built in speed limiters. One sets behind me and jabs me in the ribs. When that one isn't installed old age and declining skills take over it's job.

Because every once in a while you get to go onto Pocono Raceway and ride four laps.  Going 120 mph on my Road King this past summer was a blast.  :chop:

I do ride the speed limit on public roads/highways.

I ride at the speed limit or a shade over so I don't have to spend my time looking for the Fuzz instead of the scenery.    :bike:

My 2018 FLFBS Stage 4 will go 125 in 4th gear in about 10 seconds from zero and cuts off. Tires are rated @149 at least let 4th gear wind out!!

Sounds like maybe hitting the rev limiter (or an optimistic speedo)- with 2.79 overall gearing, 4th gear @ 6200 RPM would be ~121MPH.

Don't tell me, are you are trying to say that HD speedometers are not accurate? :hyst:

My bet is at 120 MPH that speedo is off more than 4 MPH, my guess is 6 MPH or more.

Years ago did a data run on a ultra limited . Ran it in 5th gear to wide open. Looked at the run and it showed 149mph if I recall correctly. At just a couple 10ths under 6700 rpm
.that was as fast as I have had a Harley in many years.

You win the bet.  My 2014 is off.  When I ran Pocono raceway this year, I got to 120 mph, just (according to GPS).  The speedo was way over that.  I'm guessing 5 mph generous at that speed.  I had to slow for turn one, so I couldn't top out the speed.  At 65 (GPS), it reads almost 70.

In my experience, pre-2015 Harleys are 6% off (65 GPS would read 68 speedo, 120 would read 127).  Somewhere around 2015, they decided to sell them with accurate speedometers.  All this really meant was updating the calibration number in the ecm, and anyone with a TTS or PowerVision tuner could do that too.

ran a couple  GPS with my speedo  is bout 2.5 off on both.  one on my phone is the same also .   bike is 17 CVO SG.  don't dare hook a  TTS to a new bike with all the issues.

1st thing this is a 130mph 2018 Speedo not pre 2015 120 speedo. Come to Va Beach and you can ride it. Then you can decide. M8 can not be compared to any Harley before..New World.

Larry757

Mr Ridgid, I have been riding since 1964. Raced NHRA Pro Stock 1989-1991 PSB 291. 7 second 1/4 miles  17 year racing career I know more than you can imagine about shift points and relimiters ..You have zero clue about me and what I know or can accomplish

Larry757

Mr Ridgid, hey genius. M8 has 4th gear overall ratio of 3.88. Not your 2.79 you came up with. RIF reading is fundamental! Read up on what the M8 is and has inside the cases. Makes you look better.  Yep you found someone who has knowledge

Mr Ridgid you attacked 1st.  M8 and TC are not geared the same  but! The overall ratios are the same  there is about 300 rpms difference in 6th  must be in primary gears  now I'm guessing

Maybe tire dia. 200-17. Vs 240-18. Difference in gearing

I didn't see it as an attack. He did not know your history, and was honestly wondering and asking a legitimate question.
Most people on this site are very respectful, when statements or questions are asked, they are not done so in a disrespectful or attacking manner, or name calling. That's left for the other sites, maybe that's what you are used to seeing.
This site is not like that, and it is not tolerated.

First i would like to wecome you to HTT.
This is the best Tec site for Harleys I have found and we can always use more people with knowledge and personal experiance.

Can you explain to me how these two models the overall gearing would be effected by either the primary ratio or rear tire in high gear only?
