I have an 06 RG that started to run on one cylinder once in a while when I really get on it. book says it is wires or ignition  coil. Wires check out and are tight on plugs. Is there a way to check coil.

Primary and secondary resistance checks.

I don't see any #s  for secondary or method to check. I have service and electrical manuals

Disconnect, by hand, the two spark plug wires from the coil. Unscrew the smaller connections on the coil with an SAE wrench.
Set the ohmmeter to read resistance on the "Rx1" setting. Measure the resistance across the two smaller terminals on the coil. The meter should read between 2.5 and 3.1 ohms.
Set the ohmmeter to read resistance on the "Rx1000" setting. Measure the resistance across the two larger terminals on the coil. The ohmmeter should read between 10,000 and 12,500 ohms.
If the meter reads outside of the ranges for either of the above measurements, then the coil is faulty and should be replaced.

Rbabos this is a glug in coil no big or small terminals only 4 pins. I will check plug pins.  I will change plugs when bike is back together.
Thanks for the help

Forgot to mention. When this happens I shut of the bike and it clears. When I restart all is fine.

Ron,
You may want to recheck your procedure for measuring secondary resistance. Also, remember you are testing TWO coils.

Yes, I  posted crappy info that's for an earlier coil , then I later pm'd him and sent the diagnostic pdf for his actual coil version. Didn't get around to fixing or updating my previous post. :embarrassed: I see the confusion/error with the secondary coils check.
