Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone has installed an 07-later engine/transmission/primary in an earlier frame. Specifically in an 2002 touring frame I know the engine mount for the later style head wouldn't be able to be used. Thanks in advance for any info!

If by drivetrain you're thinking engine, primary and trans I think it should be a fairly straight forward swap. The electronics might be the biggest issue. Swapping an entire wire harness might be safest/easiest option.

I know many guys that have installed '07 and later drive trains into FXR frames. I know, not exactly the same, but very similar. The only real physical issue to bolt the drive train into the FXR frame is the oil pan. The touring frame would not have that issue as it does not have the cross member for the kickstand and mid-controls. The front and rear engine mounts simply bolt in. Same thing with the top and front adjustment links.

Good luck with your project.
