light in radio went out

I have an 06 RG with stock radio. I can see the screen okay in the daytime but at night it is black. Is there a bulb I can change or do I need to send it out for a fix

There is no bulb.
The radio backlight is provided by 46 LEDs

Cant say for certain without seeing the radio, but if it's an original 06 unit, there is a high probability of liquid damage

IronCross (tech) is the way to go for repairs.

one thing you can check for yourself though before going through the trouble of pulling it is

gently pushing on the face of the unit in various spots applying light pressure to see if the lights comes and goes.  if it does, you can likely repair yourself by removing radio, removing rubber trim around faceplate, carefully removing faceplate by prying up the 6 tabs holding it on.
once off, take a qtip (foam ones work best for this) and clean the pins on the back of the face plate, and then do the same for the socket on the radio where the face plugs into it.

If you're comfortable getting the faceplate off (it's not hard, as mentioned) it's not much work at all to get the rest of the guts out and see the circuits.

I'd start with testing all of the diodes for the backlight. There are 26 for the display lighting and 15 for the buttons. Use a 12v source through a 470ohm resistor to power each LED, you may find that one dead one will stop the rest from illuminating as well. Depends on circuit design. There might also be a blown resistor etc etc...best to just take a look around.
