About this time last year I contacted Kent of Energy 1 with questions about his Extra Plate Clutch for Twin Cams. I was building a rather radical 124 with expected power output of over 150 HP. I was concerned about whether his clutch would hold the power. Kent was also concerned and sent me an extra plate kit for evaluation. As of today I have over 3,000 miles of hard use on this clutch with no problems noted. The setup is the Energy 1 extra plate kit along with a billet pressure plate, 480 lb spring and vp92 setup. This is installed on a 2002 Bagger. Numerous drag strip launches and power shifts later and the only problem is available traction to the rear tire. Just wanted to share with everyone here good information about a good product and good customer service.

How hard is it to pull the clutch lever compared to completely stock?

The clutch is pretty stout when sitting in traffic. I am accustomed to it now so no problem. When making full throttle powershifts I don't even notice the extra effort.

The pressure plate is not an Energy 1 product. It is from AIM , the same as the VPC.

I've been using the Energy One clutches for years, an excellent product, one of the best kept clutch secrets out there.

Ok so the billet plate cam from AIM?  It's not part of the VPC but a separate piece?  Will it work without the VPC?

Does the plus 1 kit still use the damping spring?

The pressure plate is in fact designed to work with a vpc. It has metal inserts for the fingers of the vpc to ride on. I would expect that it would work without a vpc installed. No, the plus 1 kit does not use the damping spring.
