Hi, I have an '04 Ultra with the factory radio that now won't turn off. I can't adjust anything on it. I have to switch the speakers off to stop the radio. I'm wondering if the head unit is now junk? I really like all the features of the factory radio & don't want to lose them. I'm wondering if this unit is repairable, & if so, if it's worth the $$.  Is it possible to switch out this head unit for a newer HK unit & keep all the functions of the old one? I did a search & didn't find any answers to my questions. Thanks.

Give these guys a call.  If they can't help you, nobody can.

You can switch to a newer HK unit but you will lose the Ultra features (intercom etc) but the radio will work fine. If you want to have it repaired, you will have to contact Radio Sound (the mfg) and see if they are still repairing them.

Iron Cross repairs HK radios, not those from Radio Sound.

First, thanks for the fast replies...2nd, I checked with Radio Sound, they no longer service HD radios cuz they're obsolete & they're out of parts for them. As for Iron Cross Audio, according to their web site, they only service the newer HK radios. My biggest concern about my problem is if the radio's toast...

Ebay has lots of them and probably for less than the repair cost.

I knew that KD...ended up doing just that...bought one on eBay off of an '05 Ultra that the seller even posted a YouTube video of the radio working through all it's functions, except the CB. Hoping to do the swap this weekend...thanks to those who replied !

Update: After getting the new (used) radio, it was installed & didn't work.  :emoGroan:  After a short try, I found the left handlebar switch controller to be at fault.  :emoGroan:  After repairing said switch, the new (used) radio works fine. To completely rule out the switch, I then plugged in the old radio to see it also works fine. Since the new radio was already bolted in, I decided to leave it in, as the bolts are a bit of a PIA to get to. The old one is now for sale on eBay after lightly cleaning it up.
