shift linkage sticking on upshifts??

maybe not related so just tell me to shut the f** up, but.... I got a "Springer" shifter rod for my birthday a couple years ago that replace the stock all thread one, it binded, stuck, it would up shift but stayed in that location, I loosened the connections on both ends, and sprayed with white lithium grease, so far been about a year and no more binding
