The evo did not make it thru the Sturgis rally. Rear exhaust cam lobe was very worn and not having enough lift for 70mph. In finding that Mick at Blackhawk cycles noticed the pinion bearing was working it's way out toward the gears.
Anyway I will have the cases out of the bike by end of week.
Any good indi's in Mpls area that can replace the race and bearings?

Give Full Throttle a call in North St. Paul.
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

Replacing the pinion bearing race on an Evo is not a bolt on job. The race needs to be ground to size after it's pressed on the shaft. It can be done but not every shop can do it.
The earlier ones had the replaceable pinion shafts.
If the race isn't worn/damaged press it back on with some green Loctite. It won't go anywhere.

I am way outside my comfort level. I will take it in and see if the boys can do the work, or I will find a shop that can. The cases and bearings look good, but for my own mental well being I will have the bottom gone thru.
Thanx Hoss, I thought you mentioned that shop before, but could not remember the site. I now have it in fav's and will take the cases in.
