And a quick check to make sure the filter is not hooked up backwards is to spin the filter off and crank the motor and see where the oil comes out.
It should NOT come out the center hole. If it does reverse the lines to the filter. Probably best to replace the filter if you swap the lines.
This is important as the filters are designed for the flow to be from the outside to the inside so all the debris is no the outside of the filter. Also some filters will have a good anti-drainback valve that will block reverse flow.
