Is this sumping?

Brother in laws 2018 107 with 10000 miles. Changed the oil and put 4.5 quarts in it. Ran it and nothing was showing on the dipstick. Put the half qt in and just touching the end of dip stick. Where is the oil? Dropped at dealer yesterday and they said they would have to top it off and watch the oil level since they didn't change the oil. Sounds like bs kick the can down the road. He has another year on warranty. I told him to ride the piss out of it.

How was the oil level checked? Nobody bothered to pull the CPS?

I was going to pull it but brother in law wanted to take to dealer instead. Dealer didn;t pull cps.

Was the bike allowed to idle on its sidestand for a minute or two before checking? If not, give it a try, it may come back, if so, a sign of sumping.
