The wind shield is a quick release for a sporty.
I've stated to notice sort of a rainbow effect in the lower part of the shield.
Today on a ride (temp at 65-70 degrees) almost the whole shield would have the rainbow effect.
Then two minutes later it would clear up.
The rainbow is similar to a coating of oil floating on water.
I'm sure it's from temperature changes, but it never did this before.

The shield is original to the bike (07) and in good condition as always.
Does anybody have a reasonable explanation for what's happening?

Thx for and suggestions/opinions

Maybe it's transgender and changing.

My HD quick detach windshield started the "oil on water" look after 10-15 years. Then the coating on the inside started flaking off.  I don't remember it doing it periodically like you are seeing, and have no explanation. I finally sat down with a bunch of different polishes and removed all of the coating. With a drill motor and attachments of course.
I'm starting to believe my body is gonna outlast my mind.

Polarized sunglasses may cause this.

Noticedd this a few years back on some brand new shields on FLHTPs.  It was my sunglasses.

Machinist nailed it, I just remembered that I was wearing Polarized sun glasses at the time.

My wife commented that a car we passed had a unique purple color to it. I told her it was green, she was confused. Told her to take her sunglasses off, yup, green.

It would have hit me about the time I had half of the coating scrubbed off.

I have seen this effect before depending on which direction the bike if facing.  Suspect the sun has some effect on the reflections we see.  Keep in mind the colors we see are those that are not absorbed by the item you are looking at.
