which 110 big bore kit to use

Back in August I wrote about going from 96" to either a 103, 107 or 110. I have made up my mind to go to a 110 BB kit. Now I see 3 choices, 1) SE 110 kit for $1195.95, 2) an S&S 4" Big bore Sidewinder kit for 1154.00, 3) Fuel Moto Extreme Duty big bore kit for $999.99. I have heard that S&S had a few problems with their kits, but does anyone have any confirmation on this? All the kits come with compression ratios of 10.5:1, so that wont be a problem there. Has anyone heard of any problems with either the Fuel Moto or SE kits?  Thank you in advance for any information you can provide.

Lots of them out there very few failures I've done 30+ and zero

I've done 2 dozen or so sets of heads for 110" drop on kits this year. The majority of the customers are using the S&S kits. There have been NO reported problems with those kits. I haven't had any negative feedback from the few that are using the S. E. kits as well.

I did the SE kit at the beginning of this year, with headwork from JW Performance. I've put a little over 25k on it this season, runs pretty good and doesn't use any oil  :SM:

I built my 110 back in the winter of 2017-18. I used the S&S kit and had Don at HD Street  Performance do my heads, been extremely happy with this build.

Mate of mine here in Aus went for the S&S 110 kit
After a while developed an oil leak at the rear exhaust gasket which was initially thought to be a valve guide or valve stem seal.
Upon disassembly cylinders were scuffed and out of round.
Shop went back to S&S dealer and eventually a replacement kit was offered but the final decision was to take a refund on purchase price and go 107" with original cylinders.
May have been old stock   :nix:
Back on the road now and very much out of pocket.

I have used the hd cylinders 110 kit from fuel moto. with dark horse crank  and some heads from zippers  performance, red shift 577 cam jackpot xxx head pipe 58mm t.b. changed the stock mufflers with 2 1/4 baffles from full sack. T.Max ecm and had Josh at Sandy's Harley help with the tune and have 8k trouble free miles on it

We use S&S 110" kits here.
Easy to have a reliable 130/130 from a well built 110".

I have the HD stage 5 kit, makes upper teens for both HP and TQ,, and I currently have nearly 25K miles on it. the bike has never missed a beat..

How do you like those 577s? I had a set in a 103 and tho ran very smooth I didnt have lots of power. My comp may have been too low. I still have the cams on the shelf and would like to use them for a future build.

as far as 110 kits go,S&S would be the only choice,that said they have all had their problems so in my opinion,a 107" (witch go for about 600.00 from most shops) if by far the best option

So I thought long and hard with the same question. I ended up deciding on a 107" bore with stage 3 headwork, Tman 625 cam, AIM clutch and throttle body clean up all from Hillside Cycles. Currently running a Jackpot R/T 2-1. Work is being done as we speak and I can't wait to give it a rip come spring! Hoping to be around 125/125 with a direct link tune. Should be a good quick bike to blast around on and also be a great touring ride for the long hauls.

Tommy G I really like the cams the torque comes on smooth and it pulls hard right up to 6500, with peak torque at 4200 and the curve is almost flat. with stock compression they would bleed off too much,my motor is 10.9 to 1 with cranking compression at 215 psi.

Regardless of who does the heads with that combination of parts you'll need a 55/58 TB to get anywhere close to 125 square

Thanks for the reply, I was at 10:1 and that prolly wasnt enough, the next time it will be upped considerably. It was the smoothest running motor I ever had tho.

I agree with Torquepimp I have a 58mm tb on it, tried a 64mm that made more power but the drivability was not quite as good so went back to the 58. the motor made 132hp and 128 torque with the 64 and about 4 hp less and 5 foot pounds more with the 58mm.

I'll take "drivability" over 4 hp any day, for a street bike.

 [attach=1,msg1328940]  this was with the stock 50 mm T.B. picked up about 5 hp from 4500 on up the torque did not change. the weather was total crap that day temp was like 94 degrees and high humidity.

so 50mm TB gave you 123 hp and 127 ft.lb
    58mm TB gave you 128 hp and 133 ft.lb
    64mm TB gave you 132 hp and 128 ft.lb
all STD ?

Generally not that big a gain between a 58/62/64

STD is about 2, maybe 3, and even that depends on the weather.
Does not matter if even DIN is used as long as accurate side/side comparisons are able to be gleaned from that info.

 I have no problem with the hijacks, I actually learn a bit more from them. My plan now is to try the Fuel Moto  110 Kit, and get the heads done. and just ride. I do realize that my clutch will need help and I will get a different TB and injectors later on.

Weyrider I used the aem clutch plate from fuelmoto with the HD spring in my clutch. Also still have the stock injectors.

I had a FM 110 kit go south right after dyno tune. If going w them make sure the APC coating is used with proper installation. That replacement set up is holding well.

I recall asking about that upon failure. Was a year ago so can't quote the response but I believe roundness checked, not absolute on that but no excuse I should learn to check this. I just trusted the vendor/supplier and their process.

IIRC was thought to be a heat issue. Not dyno operator related. APC was to address this and told APC was going to be used on all going forward
