I know that in '79 you still had the FXEF as a 74" - 1980 FXEF went to 80".
what does the F stand for
The F stands for a FXE with 3 1/2 gallon fat bob tanks.
thanks

Here's a photo of one of the 1979s we still have.  All 3 have sequential VINs.
Thanks and Sweet!!  :SM:
You guys ever tinker with them, run them?
No, the time is spent on the currently used fleet, but I did sell a 1965 Panhead to one of our riders last year.  The bike had been sitting for over 20 years but in room temp storage so with a new battery, carb cleaning, cleaning and sanding the clutch plates and running the old oil out of the chain oiler because it leaks down into the crankcase over time, it was then good to go. These would all need the same attention, but the work is all pretty simple. No Digital Tech required.

Nobody's mentioned the old "What Fits What" book as a great source of info. The year 1980 wa defintely the last year of the 1200cc engine and also the last year for the matching engine and frame numbers. Starting in 81 the engines had ten digits and the frames had 17 digits.

If you have a 1980 74 incher ... I would really like at least a picture of the VIN block out the sequential numbers is Fine!!!!

sorry, Racepres.....I noted the earlier 9D post in my feeble memory banks and that was as far as it got....here ya go....this what you wanted ?   It's not a 74 any more....84" S&S kit. ...think I got the original flywheels...    And in your porn file it as a 'My brother's bike' story...bought new by my brother...wrecked with 6500 miles on it...I took over pmts and gave him my 76 KZ900...been in my possession since early 80s. Before it was wrecked. ..when his son/my first nephew was born, his Mom rode to the hospital on the back and came home in my 73 Vette....so the boy has had his eyes on it for a long time....

Also...since we're talking shovels here....I been searching shovel clutch info here....my FSM pg 4-6....in the reassemble clutch section....says to 'grease the clutch shell bearing' ...and in most places it seems like they specify a particular lubricant for things....but I don't see anything for this......grease ?....wheel bearing grease ? ....or...?
