Dave, I think part of the confusion is why you're posting Evo questions on the Shovelhead forum. I think you'd get better answers on the Evo forum. Just sayin'!!

One4Tone

..just got my 75 superglide going again...runs strong...but ya got to feed throttle slow in 3rd...or it barely starts to slip. I have Barnett plates and the red springs I believe (been a while). I plan on driving it easy (costs less in the long run)...I might tightening the springs one turn. She sure sounds great...bound to annoy the neighbours, gets the dogs barking, from shepherds to chuwawas and the odd terrier..by the time they stop barking I am a mile away..

capn

I got the barnett carbon fiber shovel plates and I have a slip also.

I have been running stock clutch in 78 shovelhead with belt primary in closed case for almost 40 years. Adjusted clutch according to manual, the lever that clutch cable hooks to set at 1/2" from starter like picture in manual. I don't run any oil in primary expect what leaks through a seal some where every 6 or 7 years. Don't have primary vented except where the oil lines were taken off. Clutch lever is not hard to pull in, about same as my twincam. Belts last 8 or 10 years.
I have a 1974 Just like it... Never a Problem, except I neglect the Seals for too long, and at times my Clutch actually gets Oil Contaminated.. Easy Clean and Go....
