Main Drive Gear Bearing 98 Road Glide

After installing the 5 spd. Main Drive Gear with the new Bearing I noticed my Clymer Manual says to install the Bearing with the Bearing Part No. out. Can't see the No's so I gues they are facing in. Bearing looked identical each side before installing and old one looks like it would go either way. Anyone heard of this? Should I be concerned?

It is a common practice to install bearings with the numbers facing the assembler, in many cases it doesn`t really matter.

The guys who write assembly instructions follow this as standard procedure, that`s why the instruction is there even though it doesn`t matter on some bearings.

If you haven`t installed the main drive gear into the bearing, you could go ahead and flip it around if it makes you feel good.

If you have already installed the main drive gear, go with it as is.
