Well I've heard good and bad about Ultima engines and I've noticed they now offer a 131 version and the 127. I hear these motor as are good except for the rockers and lifters. If I were to get one I have a set of Jim's roller rockers I'd put in if that's possible and a Tman 590 evo cam. Plus I'd put a new set of lifters in. Other than that anything else I should have checked on these motors. My other option is buying a chopper that has a worked S&S 124 supposedly only a 1k miles. But the bad it's been sitting in a garage and hasn't been registered since 08 and last ridden in 2010. It's a softail chopper the guy had built. He wants 10k but I'm being told I can probably get it for 7k or 7500. I know the S&S is a better motor but sitting for 10 years that's a longtime sitting

How much is the Ultima motor?
If the government gives you everything you want,
it can take everything you have.

The 127" is .125" taller than stock, that's not a lot, but depending the frame you'd be putting it in, may make a difference.

Assuming modern oil was run in the S&S motor... it could sit alot longer than 10 years without anything untoward occurring!! The film strength on modern oils is astonishing!!!!

The motor the bike would go into is a 1996 Road King hopefullyno clearance issues but I'll measure the current clearance of the stock motor.

1 of my personal bikes is a 95' FLHR. 127" Ultima. Engine fits well, can even remove the rocker boxes. The only mod I did was mill the lower fins on the bottom of the front cylinder, so my shift linkage rod would line up perfectly.

What mods would you recommend if any to the Ultima motor before install? I've heard rockers and lifters are the problem areas? I have a set of Jim's roller rockers and I'll put new lifters in for insurance. Just want a reliable powerful motor as much as possible. I also see they now offer the 127 bored to a 131 brand new motor anyone have any experience. From what I've seen same height as the 127  thanks Mark

Both are good engines
127 fits like John stated....

For sure Chuck the rockers
Roller locked up in a 131 I did.....was not a pretty sight

I've only bought a few Ultima engine parts, but what I did buy, appeared to be very high quality. Why can't they get something as simple as rocker arms right?

A friend has had good service from his Ultima 100" except one of the rockers cracked. he caught it before it did any damage. I think it's a hit or miss thing with them.
