My 04 king started to drop out the speedo and if you pull the clutch in the engine will die.  It starts right back up but it will erratically do this during a ride.  I pulled the speed sensor from the trans and cleaned the wad of fuzz of thinking that was the issue but it still does the same thing.  Anyone run into this issue?

Thanks

Yep- new speed sensor, clean the IAC pintle and that should help.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Just for fun, check the running voltage at the battery.

The VSS should not affect the fuel/spark delivery.

Is this an E.F.I or Carb? And, have you retrieved any DTC's (either current or historic?

Have you tried disconnecting the Spedo/VSS and riding it to see if it does it?

A momentary electrical issue can affect both. This is where your problem is probably located.

I would begin with connections to the E.C.M. or Ignition Module. A weak Breaker (if equipped)/corroded/Loose Main Fuse and E.C.M. / Ignition module Fuse Blades . Excessive draw due to loose cables and grounds, Speedometer connection and signal wire from TSSM (if equipped),chafed wiring.
