I talked to Wes at Cyclerama and he said they have a CR489 cam that would work with stock springs. I was considering this with a SE 64mm throttle body and the S&S 124 kit at 11-1. Has anyone used this cam?

Yes, it will work with stock springs, lift is 480 intake, 470 exhaust. I am going to be putting one in a 124 here in a couple of weeks.
Basically it's right between the CR-480 and CR-482.

BVHOG built a 117 with the CR-489 and it did very well.

Have you tryed any of Star Racing's cams yet

If you're buying We's cam, why not buy his 124" kit. It's value is impossible to beat, at least that I have seen

We use the 480 then move to the 482. With proper compression both seem to fit the bill. We also do a lot of 126 and 130" 4.280 bore builds with Mahle pistons.

Do you have a sweet spot when setting up your comp pression on your 480 installs?

Don D

Most have been bolt-ins, stock motors and work great there but I would go up to 11:1 no problem.

I am running the 482 in my build.  I'M 130 inch, using Dons heads with compression at 12.1 to 1.

Very nice torque curve, easy to ride if your smart with the right wrist.  Reliable in my opinion, I have just over 20K miles on the build.  I have taken several trips on the bike.  It will run on 89, but have not beat on it with 89.  Did ride the Eureka Springs AR area twice this year on 89 no pinging but one time, rpms two low, to much gas, my fault.  Instant i heard it I downshifted.

My have looked hard at the 489, if it was out when I did my build.  Not many builds with the 482 when I did my.

There is a Dyno run in of this bike in that section.

I wonder the what the difference would be  between this build that was done and one done without headwork...more of a bolt-in like a 480

Bvhog did do head changes.

In a FB post on August 12th, by Wes Brown it mentioned "mild headwork" and CR 489 cam...my apologies if not correct. I will question no more, there are many on here that know far more than I

Have a 130 in the works now, 11.8 and with headwork,  we will see

Looking for the TDC lifts? Or will I need to call them?
