I'm at a point to buy new tires for my FXRT project bike and am wondering what you would suggest on a 19" 9 spoke as far was load and speed rating. the bike does have a FXRT fairing and I'm in the 265 lbs. range. I'd like a good tire and as wide as i can on the factory 9 spoke. I'm not curtain of the wheel width but can't be much more than 2". Any help making this choice would be appreciated.

A100/90 for a rim that narrow. You could squeeze a 110, but i wouldn't. Most 100/90 would be 57 load rating and could be had in either H or V rating. I had stock Dunlop,Dunlop K591 and Avon Venoms on my '01 Dyna. The Avon's were far the best handling and I have the newer Cobra Chrome on my RK.

Like boooby said,  Avon for handling and grip in a cruiser tire.  Avon Cobra Chrome 100 or 110 are proper fitment on a 2.15" rim.  Spec width for the 100 is 109mm which is as wide as some 110's,  the 110 Cobra Chrome is 119mm width but is .8" more diameter...specs for both tires are on a 2.5" rim so a couple or so mm narrower on a 2.15" rim.  I'll bet the 100/90 steers a little sharper, more responsive.

Thanks for you replies. Are the Venoms still available ?

No you can't, with OE forks. 100/90/19 barely clears the fender brackets. Just replaced tires on my FXRP yesterday.

Avon's are called Cobra Chrome now.  The Dunlop American Elite is another good choice.

I have Avon Chrome on my RT and they are great,Michelin is another good choice

Hey Deye76, what tire is that in your picture ? Like to see picture of the whole bike is you could

Elite 4 (Dunlop). Normally I run Avon, friend with a shop gave me a super deal, thought I'd try them.Supposed to be dual compound, softer at the edges for cornering, firmer in the center for mileage. Next warm day I'll run the Dragon see if they live up to the hype. If not I'm not out much, and will change them out. Pic of the rear tire attached.

For pics of the whole bike go to Evo 1340 at the top there is "show your FXR" pg 10 near the bottom is a pic.

Deye76, curious how much is barely. How close would you run, thanks

True,  I only get a rough measurement of 115mm between the fender bracket on my 05 FXDX...the 110 in an Avon would be too wide.

I'd say 2-3mm would be sufficient.  I don't think the casing will oscillate or move a lot and will likely narrow at speed as it grows in diameter.

hey Deye76, Wow that is a very impressive looking bike. I'll bet you get many compliments on it. What seat is that. I'm 6.2'' and hoping to find a seat to set me back a little.

Deye76

My friend tried a 110 front tire on his FXR, couldn't get it in, contacted the fender brackets. Maybe the late model FXR fender will allow a 110, IDK. Doubt you can return a tire after it's been mounted.

I'm 6'-2" also, seat is a Corbin gunfighter model.
Thanks for the compliment.

So, the real limiting factor appears to be the fender brackets. I run a Dunlop A.E. 100/90/19 on my 92 fxr-p. However I do not believe the front fender to be original. Maybe from a sporster :nix:. I see dimensional charts on both Dunlop and Avon. Different tires of different manufacturers of the same size rating can vary quite a bit in actual chart dimensions, especially width. From that I believe even some 100's would be too close to my fender brackets. So measure first

I have more than a few FXR owners that I communicate with. So far, as long as the fender brackets are not distorted, any of the popular 100/90/19 tires fit. Avon, Michelin, Dunflop, Shinko, and others. On the rear a 140 fits with plenty of clearance for the fender, but that's the limit for belt clearance. If you run a twincam 1-1/8" belt 150 is a piece of cake.
