Alright ,   2017 breakout.  Stock 103 with v&h big radius and heavy breather.
I have both , the se 255 cams and woods tw-7h,  looking for a hp boost.
Would throw a set of. 030 head gaskets in it if needed.
Thoughts and opinions on which way to go..

Here is a comparison on the specs.  The third on the list is mid spec and a popular option to consider.  The 255 will have higher CCP than the 7H and the CR575 will be a candidate for releases and up to 10.5:1.

110" kit with the tr-590 and some headwork. 125/125 all day long. Do it now, or you'll still be chasing it later... don't ask me how I know 🤪!

I've got an engine build in mind already. Using a set of CR595 cans.
Was mainly curios about those tw 7h cams. Would a stock 103 be soft on the bottom with them at stock compression?

Hillside Motorcycle

The 7H will not be soft off the bottom, as that is the intent of that cam. Torque.
We, however do not care for that one.
A TW-5-6 would be a great candidate.

Are you looking for quicker, or faster? Have you had the bike tuned? Should be making ~104/85. The 255 will make more TQ through 4K, so it's quicker through the mid range. The 7h will be softer below 3K, better above 4K, and hit 90 HP (or more).
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

More in the mid range and top. The wife likes to wring the gears out.
We just picked this bike up, 2100 miles, it runs ok probably just has a canned tune in it.

Of the two choices, I'd do the 7H with the 030@ gasket, and a proper tune.

It just doesn't have that good ol' time feelin' of the 6H.

I don't know Scott? 103 ci @10.  4 and Fairbanks 1. 9 head + Fatcat 7H felt good 109/118 hit hard down low and carried out to 5700. The noise will drive you crazy, although it was definitely a lot of fun on my Dyna

N-gin

It's amazing with so many cam courses out there I'm still hearing the 255 being brought up.
I'm not here cause of a path before me, Im here cause of the burnout left behind

Because it's cheap, and hard to beat below 3K, where an astounding number of folks shift.

Yup. Great upgrade for 96" bikes.

johnchev89

Gonna do the 7H with a .030 head gasket to start.
