Does anyone know if inside taper of 2nd compression ring is facing up or down?

There is no dot marking on this Hastings 2nd compression ring, and I can't find any info.

Second ring should have a dot (faces up), but if not, orient it bevel down, so it acts as an oil scraper on the way down. \
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Are you sure it's a second ring? I've seen Hastings rings packaged wrong now and then. Should NOT have a shiny face. Are there any markings at all on the ring? Does its mate for the other piston have a dot ?

I didn't want to take any chances, ordered a new set of rings and this set had a dot mark on the 2nd ring, and as suggested, bevel down. Thanks👍
