Shifter Pawl Top Spring

I removed the "c" clip holding the shaft on the top of the shifter pawl and doesn't want
to come off to replace the top spring. I was going to put pliers and try and twist it off.
Does the spring look normal, thought?

That pin is a press fit.That spring looks slightly deformed.
