In 1999 I took the head and barrels off the 45 to find out why the oil consumption was 50 miles per pint.
A broken piston ring!
In April 2021 I have begun ordering the parts to put it back together.
Plan A is that in September 2022 I ride it to the European Bike Week at Faaker See in Austria.

The king and queen seat will be replaced by the 52242-83E Harley Police Seat and assorted bracketry and springs.
The Triumph sprung hub will get a full refurb.
And hopefully that will be enough to allow my ageing body to cope with a rigid ridden fast on rough roads...

Glad you're getting your 45 back up and running.  These old bikes need to be out on the road.  Hopefully upgrading the seat will help you put on some miles on the old girl.  I recently put om old Knucklehead chop back together after being in boxes for 15 years.  I have a ridged frame with the seat mounted to fender and understand the need for the police seat change.

Good luck with your ride.
