A buddy just got this out of a basement. Been there 40 years! FOR FREE!!! What year is it?

 Serial number on the left case well tell you. Looks good, but going to need a little work.

He says it looks like everything is there. Plans to rebuild the motor and trans and clean it up and ride it. Said he almost had a heart attack and hasn't slept much for three nights...A buddy who bought the house sent him a pic and asked if he wanted this old bike...LOL!

WOW!  That's a great catch.  Could be a nice little resto project.  Good Luck to Him!

Looks to be a 1940ish - Engine (VIN) number would be something like 41EL3541. Inline springer, tank badges, remnants of the snorkel air cleaner,  wheel driven police siren all indicate 1940-1946 production.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?
