It was the powder coating starting to bubble on the Dymag front wheel that started it.
The front wheel, fork lowers and the fork brace went off to be powder coated Signal Red - beloved by the Ducatisti apparently.
Done by an ex-employee of Dymag that specialises in magnesium alloy wheels.

With the forks off I may as well replace the RaceTech springs with Progressive Suspension springs, and just for good measure fit the Custom Cycle Engineering 'Tour Trac Dresser Tree' that clamps the fork tubes properly. As in - even better than Ducati and all modern motorcycles but in exactly the same way as a 1950s Triumph.

I used the preload spacer length recommended by Progressive plus one inch to account for the one inch longer fork tubes used in the Tour Trac kit.

Everything is back together and is very pretty. Pics to come if I can manage it.
The progressive springs vs the single rate springs that were in there is a great improvement. Very happy.

You can feel how much better the front end is and the steering with the forks finally clamped properly is noticeably better. So much so I can tell it is the back end letting things down. Later this year the late model swingarm upgrade will have to be done.

The preload spacers need fiddling with. Too much preload solo, we'll see how it is heavily loaded two-up.
I expect to re-instate the air fork feature and shorten the preload spacer and adding air as needed, but 'later', messing with the forks on a Road-Glide is a right pain!
