Engine misses once hot

Just replaced the single fire coil and plug wires on my friends 96 evo, bike runs strong until it gets up to operating temp, then starts to miss fire and skip. Any idea's.  Thanks Spider

A bad coil can do that

just put in a new crane single fire coil.

Try disconnecting one plug wire at a time to isolate the problem, then maybe exchange wires if they reach and disconnect one at a time again, noting which cylinder is now missing.  Or put the old wires back on and see if that fixes the problem. If not, probably a bad coil, or short on one of the wires.
Also, does the coil have a chrome cover on it? My friend's was causing short on the new coil as it was slightly larger.

Old coil was cracked, old wires skipped worse, both replaced with new.  Skip is only under power and is fine at idle.

Well, at least you can try the trouble shooting by removing them one at a time.  You could also pull the wires off your bike and put them on his! A good friend would do that! Swap wires and see if yours then starts acting up.
What model is his? Chrome cover on coil?
