squish clearance

Hello I have a 99 fast that developed a base gasket leak at the rear cylinder& was wondering what is the best squish clearance I should set it to? It's still an 80do with screaming eagle heads, crane fireball cam, screaming eagle ignition & jetted cv carb. Thanks for your help.

.030 is the most accepted sweet spot. There can be several ways for you to get there.  Do a build calc to check your compression as it may effect how it runs.  If you have to trim the barrels consider taking some from the bottom so the base is true.  Evos are known to leak at the rear base if run hard before warmed up.

I would get some "Pig Tails", and install them on both front and rear cylinders. When the cylinders are off, check to see if any cylinder studs are trying to pull out of the case. Use good coated metal base gaskets (Cometic or Cyco), and do any performance work at the same time if desired. .030" head gaskets with 0 deck, is the winner.
