fuel tank top plate

Do you have to replace the seal on the screws that hold the plate on top of the tank if I change the gasket?

Nope. I've had mine and several friends "top plates" off many times - never replaced the screws or the little sealing wraps on them. I'd encourage you to follow the torque sequence however. Wouldn't want to warp THAT sealing surface - unless you like the smell of fuel.

The screws and plastic sleeves are good to reuse unless one of the sleeves gets damaged on removal.
The rubber gasket tends to get dried out and is not a good bet for reuse.

Thanks guys got a new seal on the way. Getting the tank repainted ,so don't want any leaks!
