I bought a Liberty Safe probably 20 years ago. Beautiful fit and finish, fire rated etc. Been very happy with it.

I bought mine from Sams about 5 years ago, you can see them on their site. At that time they had a "special order" catalog at the customer service desk to pick sizes and colors. It was deliverd to the local store and they layed it into the back of my truck. Bribed a few buds with cold beer, took off 4 doors and shoe-horned it inside. Price is good too, I'm no safe expert and I'm sure there are better ones but it'll eliminate the smash-and-grab.

There a lot of good brands...Get the biggest one you can use...I filled one up and had to buy another...

Yes, make sure you get one that is large enough for all your needs and then get the next size up...  I purchased a Sun Safe and got it at The Del Mar Gun Show...  Most gun shows have safes.  Now do you want one that is fire proof?  Or do you just need a fire proof container for the important papers...  The Sun Safe I got will hold 20 long rifles and has 4 shelfs for handguns and a large top shelf.  It ran me then 500 dollars.  I have had it for a good 20 years and would purchase another one...  Make sure that there are lag holes in the bottom and that you can put a dehumidifier rod in too.  We lock up everything when the kids or grandkids come over for a visit.

Buy the best you can afford.   I've had mine for 10 years.  It's a lifetime purchase.

Mine says it'll hold 50 rifles.  No it won't.  25 almost fills it.  (and it's not easy getting a rifle out of the back).

Which safe??
Like buying a helmet...........how much is your head worth, buy accordingly.
How much is your valuables worth, buy accordingly.
I own a liberty, runs about $1,200

Not only for guns, but how about important papers, jewelry, passports, pictures of yesteryear?
Just to mention a few.
You might want to consider the above when you shop for that safe.

Browning makes some nice safes.

Liberty here.  The best thing I ever did was to search "gun safe break-in" on youtube and you'd be amazed just how easy the Home Depot / Lowes / Sam's Club safes are to breach,  even for an amateur.  The Stack-On and Sentry were scary-fast to open.  Ray

i have an american security.  it is convertible from about 25 guns to 40.  you would be surprised how many other things you can store in there. knives, money, jewelry, titles to cars, bikes, boats, wills, deeds,  mine is full.  like someone said, figure out what size you need, then double it.  what they advertise in gun capacity is extremely tight.  if you have scopes on your guns, they take up a little more room.  invest in a good one.  should be able to handle 1200 deg f for 1/2 hour.  have a golden rod heater in there that prevents moisture from building up and rusting.  again, no place to go cheap.  mine weights about 750 pounds empty, so if someone wants to get in there, they will probably need a torch.

Got a Liberty, and a Centurion.  Both are good safes. Both hold 50+
long guns with a little squzzin' (and those silicone gun socks that
Cabelas sells).  The socks keep the rifles from dinging one another.
The upper shelves hold 30+ Handguns and the Night vision Binocs.
plus a whole bunch of small items. Make sure that you install a
goldenrod heater to combat moisture.

Don't know what you have in mind but I can recommend these guys without hesitation.

They custom make width, depth, height and fire proofing material.   I looked a long time and these guys were practically in my back yard.  I got a nice discount on one a customer turned down before it was painted so I had it painted in gun metal grey and with red pin striping...... yeah, Confederate colors.

I bought a Browning on sale at the Outdoor Sportsman. I think it was about $1400 out the door. It's not the larger size but suits my needs. The fire rating is right up there with the better safes but I dont remember the numbers. I believe the Brownings are made by Century. I did not want a digital push button combination lock so I picked the one with the old style Sargent & Greenleaf twist knob lock. I'm happy with it. It looks similar to this one.

I bought a Browning a couple of years ago and had a bad experience....First, Browning doesn't make the safes.  A company called Pro Steel makes them.  Pro Steel also makes other brands, such as Bass Pro Shops' RedHead brand.  If you look on the back upper corner of the safe, you will see a Pro Steel metal tag.

Anyway,  Browning highly touts the beauty of their safes finish.  I bought mine, brought it home, uncrated it and found the finish to be terrible.  It had deep sanding marks under the paint.  It took too many calls to Browning, Pro Steel and finally a complaint to the BBB to get a rep to come look at my safe.  He agreed that it was poorly done and authorized me getting a replacement.  The next one had paint bubbling and peeling.  Finally,  I got a third that had a decent finish.

At the same time, a buddy bought a Browning. His also had the sanding scuffs....Beware.

My Browning is beautiful. I looked at a lot of diff. ones on display at a local gun shop & other places , so I could see what I was buying . Got one that was on display for two years ,payed $1200 for a $2200 dollar safe .

I have a Bear safe.  I had them build it without any stickers other than the serial number.  Lose the key and call them with the serial number and their on it.

Bear safes don't have those stupid handles that encourage people to put a crow bar under them and try to pull the pivot out which won't work but will make the case look horrible and likely disable the lockworks.  Instead they use a pin lock in a small hole that is inaccessible with a crow bar.  Also, They'll refinish your case for less than the jeweled finish of a pretty box.

Bear safes are smarter than others.
