I used to install the power wire to the ignition switch, but where do you install the power wire when the switch is a plug in ? Can I wire it directly to the + battery terminal ?

Some bikes have factory P&A connectors with switched power.

Orange/White goes through almost every harness connector on that bike. That's probably a good one to grab as it's switched on with the ignition.
