Okay...I have a set of SE 103+ heads I am re-installing on my '02. I found the install instructions on line and they recommend the intake flanges from '06. Fine, I have them. On pre-fit I found that the recommended flanges don't line up so well. The pic that is off is the '06 and the other is my stock '02. I can't see how that interference to the air flow as a good thing....

These are pics of an 05 head with the 06 flange, and the 06 flange on an 06 head. The 05 head port is offset towards the upper fastener.

Yes, the instructions say to change them to the '06 style up to '05 and '06 and up are okay but they don't line up. I'm staying with the '02s.

J03607 is the information I was using but it appears the PN 17071-03B that the parts guy gave me is for a kit that includes heads with an 06 prefix. Those would need the 06 flanges. These heads are obviously an earlier head because of the intake. They are on the bike now so it's not possible to see the casting.

A little history...I found these 103+ heads on E-Bay as I was thinking about pumping it a bit when I lost a cam bearing. They were sent to Don to touch them before installing my'03 "Stroker" wheels that were Nighthorsed. They are a hemi head that take a domed stroker piston 22483-04.

I'm good as long as I have cleared up the flange issue thanks to you guys. I will look through my P&A books to see if I have an old one with the information that I should have on hand  :emoGroan: .

Well, none of my books back to 2000 show these heads.  They were called 103+ and I have seen them on the weeb but not so much now. They worked well and will again I'm sure. I am wondering if I should have gone with a thinner head gasket now. A compression check after break in will give me more information.

Some instructions sheets use "Screamin' Eagle Pro 103+ Cylinder Head Kit" to refer to 17071-03B (and 17072-03B), e.g. see J04391. Also, see PAB 867.

J02978 for an earlier version of that kit, 17071-03 and 17072-03, shows the part numbers for the individual heads (17063-03, 17065-03, 17064-03, 17066-03) in that kit.
