S&S Cycle 136" Crate Motor

First crate motor I bought was a 80" shovel in 1978 for a project chopper rigid frame. I rode it from west coast to Daytona in 1979. Local dealer had it for me in a big box! Was like Christmas when I opened it!

Sold that bike and another to a coworker in 1991.

$12k for a 150hp engine? I get all new components, seems like a hard sell to someone that already has a complete and running M8. Not hard or expensive to get to 150h with an oem engine. I would love to see the business plan that produced an IRAD approval for this engine.

Believe me, turbo, I hear ya clear as day but guys are buying new HD's in my neck of the woods for $60plus Grand just to complement their new Dodge Hemi Ram!! What's another $12K for bragging rights for these guys - and let's not kid ourselves, there are more "plug & play, look't meee" types out there now than when we were kings. IMHO.

There definitely is that "look at me" syndrome out there. My view on that is that if they can afford it, so be it. Not my style either.

I think $12k for a crate engine is asinine  too. 100% on your reasoning too.😎
