Started my cam swap last night

I finally have time to swap out the stock cam in my 2021 Street Bob. I'm putting in a CR480MT along with all the other usual suspect items.

I got it all apart last night, but saved the bolt for the lifter cuffs and the removal of the stock cam bearing for today. It was after 10pm when I quit and I was wiped out from work. I didn't want to get after those items half awake. Should go fine today. I've got a small torch to heat the cuff bolts from top and bottom. Bearing will be straight forward, I have the right tool for the job.

I want to get rid of the T-27 bolts that hold the tensioner to the cam plate. I've got a 1/4-20 x 1" studs, or socket head allens to replace it with. Anyone have a preference? I hate torx.

Keen to see your results after all the hard work is done, I'm thinking of going for the 480MT in my lowrider ST. Do the cam tensioner bolt heads regularly fail? I've done a few cam swaps but never ran into any issues.

Make sure to look at the cam bearing before removal. The later M8 bikes, some have the B-168 bearing already in them.

I would double check clearance of cam cover.  Maybe find a suitable replacement in button head allen?

People feel how they do, but torxs allow for more tool fastener contact area and can take more torque.  Install and removal.

Thanks. Stock bolts went back in. Classic case of me over thinking stuff.
