ring gap

got a 2000 softail stock 88 new set of std rings. gap is .020 in 3 places,no torque plates
how much difference would torque plates make? & would would be your limit?

I set .004" per inch . Some like to give second ring more .

yes JSD.that's about .015 but what would your max be?i think the book says .020

I shoot for .020", no torque plates, on 99 % of the engines I build.
