Hi. I am wondering if someone can help me with an issue I have.  This last weekend I removed my tour pack and installed the docking kit and detachable tour pack kit.  With the tour pack disconnected I have almost no sound from the fairing speakers.  You can very faintly hear the speakers at full volume.  I put tour pack back on and connected the rear speakers. The rear speakers worked fine but still no front speakers. I hooked left side passenger speaker pod audio control button back up and left front speaker worked fine.  Had the same result with the right side. I'm assuming I am going to need some  2ohm resistors or something to make this work but not sure exactly how to make it work. The control buttons thrown into the mix makes it even more confusing to me.  I want to make this as plug and play as possible as I will likely run the tour pack still 50% of the time.  Right now I have no tunes with the pack removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Oh, and the head unit is the original factory Harmon Kardon.  Amp is the 400w 4 channel 2 ohm J&M rokker.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The FLHX models have no rear speakers, yet the fronts work and where HD likes to build ubiquitously rather than individually whereever possible, that means it might be a simple fix by studying the wiring diagrams - "simple" meaning HD may have a part to support a "no rear speakers" application, as in FLHX models. A quick check did not reveal this for me, however.

The "Radio" Diagnostic Codes should pop a B2021 (Open Rear Speakers).
Reading through the Electrical Diagnostics flowchart for the 07's, it appears each Rear Speaker circuitry has to be closed with a resistance of less than 3 Ohms.
The Electrical Diagnostic Manual details the appropriate pinouts on the Radio harness.

Having said all that, have you checked on-line to see if HD or an aftermarket company has already your solution prepared for you with a simple bypass plug-in connector?

With the "talent" here on HTT, I'm sure someone has run across this previously and will provide the insight you require.
We're all A-holes. It's to what degree that makes us different.

Thanks Tacocaster

I contacted J&Mcorp who sold me this speaker system.(Which has been a great system for me so far.)  I thought surely the've come across this before. The guy seems to believe it isn't possible that the front speakers won't work just because rear speakers and controls are disconnected.  The guys response was "something is very wrong with the original install wiring, because the radio doesn't care if the rears are hooked up."  I installed it myself. Although I'm not an audio specialist I have been a journeyman electrician for over 20 years and I specialize in controls and automation. I pulled the fairing off this afternoon.  Double and triple checked all wiring.  Factory wiring looks great (verified with service manual). Went through the J&M Rokker wiring diagram that came with the kit and everything is wired correct as well.

I'm with you Taco.  I think I'm going to have to Macgeyvor this thing if I can't find an aftermarket kit. I did do the diagnostic test with the rear speakers and controls disconnected. I got the B2021 code.  I Plugged controls and speakers back in and everything works great.  My gut is telling me the factory radio is the culprit going into a protection mode or something, but multiple sources keep saying it isn't possible. I read somewhere that a guy said that radio had to be reflashed to switch between 2 and 4 speaker mode.  That isn't an option for me. There's got to be a way to trick it if this is the case. I'm going to study the service manual diagrams some more tonight. It looked like there are two different wiring harnesses.  One for the Ultra and another for the rest.

Thanks again.  If anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears.
