I know it's been beat to death but I'm looking to do a new cam. I've run the ev13,46 and 27. The 27 is my fav but it is noisey. I've been interested in the talk of the Woods 6. I'm looking for some feedback on a comparison with it and the EV27. Thanks, Ron

I'm going to try Leineweber E4S in my stock compression Evo80 next.

Their cams have not disappointed me.

The Woods 6 has Narrow LSA so I tend to think that cam will be rough and routy, and power on or off. No cruising.
Interested to hear what people think.

IMO, the EV 27 cam, is the best, all around, quiet, drop in cam, that I use on basically stock, and lightly modified EVO engines.

go to the Dyno room and you can see what different cams will do, you can see what rpm they will make power so you can get one for the way you ride.

Years ago I had a EV27 that rattled like a coffee can full of marbles. Couple years ago when I redid my FXR I tried one in the stock motor, very quiet, even with the OE non-adjustable rods. :nix: More than a few people have characterized the Woods 6 as pretty noisy.

I've put in countless W6 cams. As long as you match the pinion gear there is as much noise as a stock cam and if you bump the comp to 10:1  IMHO there is no bolt-in cam that will touch it and the idle sounds great. I have over 70k on my build and the only thing I've done is swap out the tappets every 20-25k.

Fitted heaps of Andrews cams never any noises. Woods have quick lift ramps so are harder on lifters. Similar like fitting solids on a hydraulic cam .

DM 530  I have logged thousands with it and no problem IF   as with any cam  you fix the drive gear so it will not slip.
If you add bigger ramps and larger bumps, it will happen.
The little bit of keyway it shares is not enough to hold along with that tiny nut and 40lbs of TQ  (I think it's 40?  faded memory )

If you go to the "Home Made Tools" section, there's a fixture I made to reinforce the "T" key, which holds the pinion gear, spacer, assy.

OH for sure it is an often overlooked weakness in the Evo engine.
When Harley quit using the tapered ends well, well, we learned the hard way.

A link to this mod would be nice in the above post ?
Thanx

IF you go to "THE HOMEMADE TOOLS" section of THIS web site, and scroll down, you will come across the subject. "Jig to Weld Pinion Gear and Spacer".
