More stupid TTS questions

Hi again,

My TTS interface is on its way, and I still have some silly questions;
- Will the data master and/or flight recorder work with the stock ecm? Ie, before I've written a tts map to the ecu?
- regarding the cam selector I understand the intake valve opening procedure no worries, however I don't have access to a Dyno to calculate the intake valve closing number. Could I approximate this by using a degree wheel while I've got the cam cover off, and find out at what degrees the intake valve closes, then extrapolate the degrees to a number in the TTS Mastertune program? If so, how would degrees map to the numbers in the program?

Thanks

DataMaster & Flight Recorder work fine with the stock map, but not VTune- there must be an MT8/9 map in the ECM to gather VTune data.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Hi Rigidthumper,
Thanks for that - Excellent news, as I'm really interested in the mixture & timing from the stock map so it'll be great to study it before writing the TTS map. I wanted to get an idea of the way it's running stock because I really like most of what the engine is doing stock. (Before I have new massive amounts of torque!)

Thanks

I would use estimator for closing.  It has less resolution and more forgiving than the opening.  It is correct most of the time.

Another way and it isn't perfect.  Go with what estimator suggests.  Get VE and ignition dialed in as perfect as possible.  Try another closing setting.  How does the bike idle?  If you went rich.  Remap VE and use the new setting.  If you go lean.  GO back to suggested setting.

Thanks hrdtail78, that sounds like good advice.
