I have the old flat bar motion pro tool, and cut down Allen from Evo days.  Probably due for an upgrade.

Others are all correct... I "believe" the broken one is correct and only looks upside down from the picture perspective with the broken spring.

I am waiting for the new spring and valve spring tool I ordered to arrive. I'll remove the broken spring and get a better look then...

I didn't mentiion this tool because you had to remover the head to service the base gasket problem.  It may be too late (or this is what you ordered) but I thought I would share this info anyway.  The "Nub Tool" comes equipped with all you need and works so slick you will be shocked.  Use it once and it absolutely pays for itself and cuts the time down by probably 80 - 90% by not having to remove the head to change valve springs or seals.  My initial experience was so good that I purchased a couple more for close friends.

At one time all the fuelmoto heads were ported by Ward.

I don't need a lot of convincing to buy a tool... I like tools..  :SM:

I have that tool saved in my "list of tools to buy when needed"....  I read about it here.

Since, as you mentioned, I needed to remove the head for the base gasket, I didn't get that tool this time...  But I noticed it on my list when I looked for a valve spring tool... I had saved the info on the "Valve Spring Compressor by Motion Pro" for a situation like this...

It should get here in a day or two...

Hmmmmm, you may decide to freshen up the valve seals including the front head that you aren't removing.   :fish: :SM:

Yeah, I've been known to fix something until it's broken... I'm trying to avoid that.  :embarrassed:

I think I'll let the seals be...

HOWEVER, it would be a reason to buy that "NUB Tool"....  :nix:

You're not helping kd....  :banghead:

I thought that everyone had a Nub Tool.   :nix:

And maybe replace the beehives with double springs.    :potstir:

Once the base gasket is dealt with, I'm thinking morning coffee in hand, tunes on, Nub Tool, double springs, good seals, reassembled, valves adjusted and fired up in maybe 6 hrs? Probably including a sandwich break.  How's that fur painting a picture?  :fish:  :SM:

Yur welcome

FWIW....

I pulled the old, broken spring today.

It was installed correctly, it was just the broken spring and pic perspective that made it look installed upside down..

Now waiting on the new spring...    :pop:

JSD

I would have sworn it was upside down.

It sure looked like it in that pic...  It didn't in person, must have been the pic perspective...

Here is the new one and broken one side by side...

And this is the reason, I won't recommend, or use "Beehive" springs, without the customer signing a release.

As said dual springs   .  Break a spring, it clatters, open it up and change the set. (if you have a Nub Tool  )  No valves dropping, exploding parts, and big expense.
