Friend just bought a 2023 road glide, not many miles on it. Was cleaning it up and when he to the bags off, the rear wheel was all scratched up. What he found was the rear sprocket inside lip came off the sprocket. Never seen this before, the steel plate isn't riveted to the sprocket, just looks like its crimped. Do you this this happen when the wheel isn't aligned right and the belt put this much pressure on it. I should of took a picture!

Damn...another thing to worry about 😂

Take it to the dealer so they can document/repair. The bike is still under the 2 year warranty, and that should not have happened.
Ignorance is bliss, and accuracy expensive. How much of either can you afford?

Had that happen on my 1995 bagger years ago. It was an aftermarket chrome pulley.
Flange came loose but didn't come off.

I noticed a ringing noise from the rear wheel that drove me nuts for weeks before I noticed the loose flange. I guess it happens!

This happened on 5 of our police models from 2002-2010.  Tried remounting with screws on a couple but ended up replacing the sprockets anyway.

I was wondering if a person could drill and pop rivet or screws to stop they from happening.

:gob: I tried doing that on 2 of them.  The screws didn't hold very long in the aluminum sprocket.

I did a bunch of them years ago with no problem. I used to take the 1 1/2 pulleys and trim them down to use to use the 1 1/8 belts.

I screwed up with my tire machine and knocked one off a customer's bike when I was doing that stuff. Expen$ive mi$take!  :banghead:

We all make mistakes. It's how we handle them that defines us. Good on you for doing the right thing! Many would try to squirm out of the responsibility of fixing it.

thanks

I had it happen to one of my bikes. My opinion was the bike was not properly aligned and the belt rubbed on the inner edge. The dealer had recently worked on the bike so it was fixed at their expense.

I did the exact same thing. Had to bite the bullet and replace it. Was tuff telling the guy I screwed up. Lesson learned.
